20 years of loyal LPG custom by Peak District hotel

The Derbyshire Dales country hotel has been using LPG for the past 20 years.

The Bentley Brook Inn is a popular hotel, restaurant and wedding venue in the heart of the Peak District countryside. For the past 20 years the rural inn has relied on LPG to meet all of its energy needs – providing reliable heating and hot water for its guests as well as cooking gas for its busy restaurant.

Set in the small, picturesque village of Fenny Bentley, The Bentley Brook Inn is a sought-after venue for a range of occasions. Its hotel boasts twelve bedrooms with en-suites, there’s a restaurant, a bar & lounge, a wedding garden and a private function suite that can cater for parties up to 200 guests.

A reliable, efficient energy supply is the lifeblood of this busy venue, which is why The Bentley Brook Inn has continued to run solely on LPG for close to 20 years. LPG provides it with all the benefits of a gas connection without being on the mains gas grid. This means guests can enjoy instant heat and hot water while its restaurant chefs have a controllable real flame for cooking.

A reliable fuel, and service

Commenting on the use of LPG, Joe Livingstone, owner of The Bentley Brook Inn said:

“It’s vital for us as a business to have an energy supply that we can fully rely on, which is why we’ve run on LPG for so long. We haven’t seen any reason to change what is a perfect solution for us. LPG meets all our requirements for running a busy hospitality venue; it’s reliable, cost-effective and low maintenance. It’s also a much greener option compared to other off-grid fuels like oil.

The service we get from our supplier means we never have to worry about a thing. We don’t even have to remember to order our LPG. Our tanks are fitted with auto-ordering technology that alerts when we’re running low, so they always keep us topped up. Plus, we have a dedicated account manager for any day-to-day support. This means we get regular service reviews, and if there’s ever any maintenance needed, which is rare, the team is always there to take care of it all.

Out of sight, out of mind

The supplier managed the whole design and installation of Bentley Brook Inn’s LPG solution, which is still fit for purpose almost two decades later. There are two, above-ground, one-tonne tanks, both fitted with auto-ordering technology. Whilst these are above ground, they have been installed in a discreet location away from public view in a fenced off area near the customer car park. This way they don’t aesthetically impact the venue and deliveries can be kept well out of sight too.
