Happy campers

The strain of providing constant hot water all day long at this campsite was also leading to large fuel bills and high hot water storage costs. That’s where LPG came to the rescue!

Ah, the great outdoors! Breathing fresh air, gazing at the stars, listening to the birds, smelling like a campfire for days on end…Camping, it truly is one of life’s greatest pleasures and is sure to leave you with some of your fondest memories.

Wait!  Did you say ‘smelling like a campfire for days on end’?  It’s all well and good communing with nature, but even hardcore campers – we’ve all met them, they can pack the entire contents of their house into a backpack and then proudly announce it only weighs 2.2 ounces – need a shower!

But it can be an expensive old business, heating vast amounts of water.

For one caravan and camping park in County Kerry – with more than 500 visitors at any one time – the availability of instant hot water is an absolute must.  The pressure was almost combustible for the two gas boilers and solar energy panels which had to provide central heating, hot water for two showering blocks, a camper’s kitchen, laundry and all the visitors housing needs.  The strain of providing constant hot water all day long was also leading to large fuel bills and high hot water storage costs.

That’s where LPG came to the rescue!  Following a free onsite survey, a local supplier recommended installing two 56kw Andrews FASTflo Water Heaters.  And the benefits have been outstanding!  One of the heaters delivers 14 litres of hot water per minute; this in turn means the park is able to obtain 196 litres of hot water at 800ºC in just seven minutes and allows water temperature to vary from 37 degrees C to 80ºC with the aid of a controller. Auto ignition ensures there are no running costs when the unit is idle and no water storage costs throughout the day or night.

The owner of the park explained: ‘Our old system served us for more than 16 years but as time went on it became more and more inefficient.  As high hot water storage costs were becoming an issue in low peak seasons, we contacted our local LPG supplier for a new, efficient, tailored system for our business.  We couldn’t be happier!’
