LPG industry focuses on a clean future at UKLPG Annual Conference

Thursday 9th May 2019

Focusing on delivering a clean future to meet decarbonisation targets was top of the agenda at the UKLPG annual conference held in Manchester last week (2nd May).

More than 120 representatives of the LPG industry and its suppliers and stakeholders attended the conference at The Midland Hotel to hear from a full programme of speakers presenting on an interesting and inspiring range of topics.

Announcements at the conference included the signing of the LPG industry Safe Loading Pass contract between UKLPG and UKPIA (UK Petroleum Industry Association), and a new identity for UKLPG as the industry modernises to meet the opportunities and challenges of decarbonisation. The new identity will be implemented following an official launch to be held in London on 3rd July 2019.

Keynote presentations were given by Eric Johnson from Atlantic Consulting who spoke to delegates about taking bioLPG to the next level, and James Higgins from Ecuity Consulting who explained the latest Government thinking regarding decarbonisation of heat.

The programme also featured presentations from Stephen Marcos Jones from UKPIA, David Appleton from Argus Media and James Rockall from the World LPG Association (WLPGA).

Other speakers included Helen Charlesworth from BH&HPA, Chris Fletcher from the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Ian Travers, a process safety leadership specialist.

Feedback received from delegates stated that the wide range of presentations provided for an enjoyable and beneficial conference with many opportunities for networking, with one delegate commenting on “a great atmosphere and a sense of unity”.

UKLPG would like to thank the sponsors and exhibitors for their support, and the delegates for their attention. The next UKLPG Annual Conference will be held in Birmingham on Thursday 21st May 2020.

Please note: conference presentations are available to delegates and UKLPG members either by accessing the Members’ Lounge of the UKLPG website or by contacting UKLPG.
