Liquid Gas UK: The Industry’s Journey to 2050

Monday 4th November 2024

The report outlines significant economic and environmental benefits and evidence that the industry is delivering on its challenge with a credible pathway and is ready to be 100% renewable by 2040.

The recent Parliamentary reception marked an important step for the LPG and renewable liquid gases industry.

Our newly launched report, ‘Liquid Gas UK: The Industry’s Journey to 2050’, highlights how renewable liquid gases are vital for ensuring a fair, affordable, and flexible transition to Net Zero - particularly for hard-to-decarbonise homes, businesses and industries that rely on flexible, clean, and efficient heating fuels.

With the right policy support, renewable liquid gases available today could deliver an 80-85% emission reduction compared to heating oil, rising to 92% by 2040 - the equivalent of removing 1.3 million cars from the road by 2050.

The report also forecasts significant economic growth, including a £1.3 billion contribution to the UK economy and 12,500 jobs created by 2045.

Thank you to Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown for hosting, and to all our members for their dedication to delivering a renewable future.
