Position Summary
Responsible for all Production staff Technicians Plant fitters, and monitoring, inspection and maintenance of LPG/Air production plants, LPG bulk storage plant and all other relevant plant and equipment whilst ensuring activities are safely controlled. The role is responsible and accountable for operations and maintenance of the site including the LPG liquid transfer pipeline and Jetty assets.
LPG Terminal and Production Manager Responsibilities: ·
- Carry out and team management duties team in line with Island Energy Core Behaviours.
- Stock control: Ensure a minimum of 10 days stock and accuracy of bulk LPG import requests.
- Control and supervision of PSSR inspections and examinations.
- Control and supervision of road tanker loading and ship discharges..
- Engagement with stakeholders including F&RS, adjacent facilities, regulatory inspectors, insurers on matters relating to site operations and its interfaces.
- Maximize operational performance and efficiency of LPG/Air Production operation and processes.
- Acting site controller on Lower/Upper-Tier COMAH sites.
- Responsible for safe control of operations within the site.
- Mentoring of direct reports.
- Ensuring safe working practices and clearly defined procedures are developed, reviewed and utilised.
- Ensuring asset ‘risk’ is reduced by proactively managing scheduled preventative and reactive maintenance tasks through Pirana CMMS.
- Support company objectives by ensuring data is accurately captured, recorded and reported to key stakeholders.
- Manage all operational activities within agreed OPEX and CAPEX budgets, and attend monthly financial reviews to report on exceptions. Provide proactive solutions to overcome exceptions.
- Ensuring ship discharge operations are planned and adequately resourced for split shift manning.
- Attend and contribute to Leadership Team meetings
- Develop and implement individual performances reviews and identify training needs to ensure maintenance of competent employees.
- Recruit, train and motivate staff to ensure that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standards.
- Challenge inefficiencies and inaccuracies and provide solutions to ensure maximum outputs in line with Island Energy values and safe control of operations.
Management of staff:
- Ensure resources are appropriately deployed to deliver safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the site.
- The daily management of Plant Operatives and Technicians, including duty rota provision and ship discharge resourcing.
- Responsible for project team during CAPEX Project delivery.
- Provide inspirational leadership and management to the team of operatives and technicians.
- Provide content and deliver monthly safety briefs and toolbox talks.
- Challenge unsafe and inappropriate behaviours and integrate the team into the wider IE team by encouraging engagement.
- Management and control of contractors within the site.
- Deliver agreed objectives identified within annual performance reviews.
- Identify training requirements to ensure maintenance of competent employees
Service Delivery:
- Successful delivery of key objectives set by the LPG Operations Manager.
- Responsible for detailing variances in all areas of responsibility and ensuring corrective actions are closed.
- Attend weekly leadership meetings at our HQ and work closely with all areas of the business, as required.
- Responsibility for OPEX budget performance of the business unit.
Key working relationships (internal and external):
- Develop and maintain a close working relationship with; LPG Operations Manager, Asset Manager, Asset Integrity Manager, H&S Engineer, EC&I Technician and site operational team.
Performance Management:
- The post holder will be expected to contribute to their annual performance development review and interim performance reviews based on agreed objectives set by their line manager.
Any other duties:
- Working outside normal working hours will be necessary. (Plant Checks, Ship off loading)
- Participation in an out of hours on the Duty Engineer Rota.
- Holds a Current Drivers License.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years + technical experience in the LPG / Oil/ Gas Industry or High Hazard Industry.
- Over 5 Years professional experience in an engineering and asset maintenance environment.
- ONC (Minimum) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent or working your way to towards the qualification.
- Experience working on COMAH Sites.
- Experience leading operational teams.
Desirable Skill Set:
- Proven skills and ability in motivating and developing teams.
- Ability to review system design documentation for compliance with design requirements, relevant regulations etc and provide specific recommended system and component technical changes.
- Performing technical reviews of procurement specifications, reports, specifications related to site plant and equipment.
- Ability to read process flow diagrams, P&ID’s and understanding of Process System description documents.
- Demonstrates and understands compliance with relevant technical standards and legislation.
- Demonstrable technical experience with the installation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Knowledge of site control and emergency systems.
- Basic knowledge of system logic diagrams and HMI Systems (Human machine interface)
- Good communication skills – able to effectively communicate technical concepts over to non-specialists and write clear and constructive reports.
- Demonstrate working to a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent people leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with line managers and reports.
