Company Description

Liquid Gas UK with member companies, has a pathway to be 100% renewable by 2040.

The Liquid Gas UK Team, along with member companies are working closely with Government departments, particularly the DEZNZ heat team on a transition from a fossil fuel to a renewable solution.

Liquid Gas UK is the trade association for the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and renewable liquid gas industry in the UK, representing companies who are LPG producers, distributors, equipment and service providers, and installers. It is dedicated to the safe and effective development of LPG and takes a leading role in consultation and negotiation with legislators and policy makers.

There are circa 100 members of Liquid Gas UK and member companies cover 99% of the total LPG distributed in the UK.

Role Description

This role is pivotal in driving the energy transition and transforming the LPG sector to achieve 100% renewable status by 2040. As the "Sustainability Director / Deputy Chief Executive," you will lead key projects, collaborating with government departments and industry partners to advance renewable gas initiatives.

You’ll oversee project delivery and management, working closely with the Chief Executive and the Liquid Gas UK board. Your responsibilities include directing, planning, and managing working groups, and engaging with third-party stakeholders, members, and the Liquid Gas UK team.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you’ll also step in as deputy when needed. Additionally, you’ll support strategic projects and operational matters deemed essential by the Board, contributing to the broader goals of the Trade Association.

  • Working with SAF producers and associated stakeholders on bioLPG / Renewable Gas Production.
  • Incentives to encourage renewable gas investment and production.
  • Renewable consultations.
  • Technical and sustainable projects working across the supply chain.
  • Renewables Projects – development and implementation of scoping documents.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Must be diplomatic and aware of others' perspectives.
  • Capable of listening to, and making arguments, and developing a summary and consensus position.
  • Must be mature and self-assured enough to manage persuasive arguments with internal industry teams and external bodies.
  • Ability to influence and inspire stakeholders
  • Ability to understand implications of policy, technical regulations, renewable and sustainable whilst being willing and capable of delving into necessary detail to develop industry responses and positions.
  • Excellent communicator, turning complex information into straightforward communications, both verbally and written, for internal and external consumption.
  • Empathetic to members, government bodies, and public concerns and perspectives.
  • Enthusiastic and willing to become involved in wider trade association work.
