Liquid Gas UK, the trade association for the LPG and renewable liquid gas industry, has announced it will be closing its UKLPG Approved Installer Scheme at the end of August 2025.
Liquid Gas UK, the trade association for the LPG and renewable liquid gas industry, has announced it will be closing its UKLPG Approved Installer Scheme at the end of August 2025.
The Scheme, which has been in operation for 26 years, has been instrumental in setting and maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards for LPG vehicle conversions across the UK. The UKLPG Vehicle Register, launched in 2010, has provided a vital database for owners to confirm that their vehicles were converted by UKLPG Approved Autogas Installers.
However, with the UK Government’s growing emphasis on electrification of transport, demand for LPG conversions has steadily fallen. This year, the level of demand has reached a point where continuing the Scheme is no longer viable.
From 31st August 2025, the UKLPG Vehicle Register will close to new entries, though it will remain available for existing owners to verify conversions. DriveLPG, the consumer-facing platform, will continue to support motorists with information on LPG vehicles and refuelling, with approximately 450 Autogas sites still in operation across the country.
George Webb, Chief Executive of Liquid Gas UK, said:
“We’re very disappointed to have to make this decision, but with the market shift it is unfortunately necessary. I’d like to thank Mike Chapman, Autogas Manager, for doing a sterling job managing the Scheme and ensuring it delivered the high standards the industry and motorists rely on.”
Liquid Gas UK remains committed to promoting Autogas and supporting LPG motorists as part of the UK’s diverse energy mix.
