Liquid Gas UK has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Nick Welch as Sustainability Director and Deputy CEO, a pivotal role in advancing the industry’s transformation to 100% renewable energy.
The appointment reflects the association’s commitment to driving the transition to renewable liquid gases (RLGs), such as bioLPG and rDME, and achieving net zero. Working closely with Chief Executive George Webb and the Liquid Gas UK Board, Nick will oversee the planning, direction, and delivery of key initiatives. His remit includes managing working groups, engaging with stakeholders across the energy landscape, and supporting projects identified as critical to the Board’s vision for a cleaner, more secure energy future.
George Webb, Chief Executive of Liquid Gas UK, said:
“This appointment is a significant milestone in our journey to net zero. Nick’s expertise and leadership will play a central role in ensuring the LPG sector not only meets its sustainability targets but leads the way in the UK’s broader energy transition. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Nick brings a wealth of experience working with businesses, governments and other organisations helping companies successfully provide the sustainable, secure and affordable energy on which we all rely while addressing environmental and other policy goals. He has previously worked with Shell, Noble Energy and the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute as well as acting as a consultant for a range of other companies. A strong focus of his work has been finding practical solutions to meeting net zero goals and helping deliver an orderly energy transition.
