New 2025 edition includes enhanced guidance on system design, leak rate calculations, and testing requirements.

Liquid Gas UK, the trade association for the LPG and renewable liquid gas industry, has released the 2025 edition of its Code of Practice 22 – Design, Installation and Testing of LPG Piping Systems.

The updated Code replaces the 2021 version and incorporates key technical updates and safety improvements. Notable changes include:

  • Regulator and pipework testing content integrated into the main document
  • New guidance on Maximum Permitted Leak Rate (MPLR) calculations
  • Minor corrections and clarifications throughout

Covering 10 comprehensive sections, the Code provides clear, practical guidance for professionals involved in the design, installation, and testing of LPG piping systems. It spans everything from materials selection and pipe sizing to below-ground installations, purging, and commissioning procedures.

“As part of our role in supporting safety and professionalism in the LPG industry, we regularly update our Codes of Practice to reflect current standards and industry needs,” said Richard Hakeem, Director of Technical & Safety Poilcy. “This latest update ensures installers, designers, and users have clear and reliable guidance for safe LPG system operation.”
