Next generation of LPG professionals recognised in fifth anniversary awards

Monday 24th November 2025

Liquid Gas UK has revealed the winners of the 2025 Young Person in LPG awards at its annual conference in Bournemouth, celebrating five years of recognising emerging professionals in the sector.

The Vaillant-sponsored awards recognise talented people under the age of 35 who are making a significant contribution to the LPG and renewable liquid gases sector, with a focus on those driving innovation, efficiency and sustainability.

Philippa Lois-Smith, Regional Digital Marketing Manager at AvantiGas, has been named the overall winner of this year’s award due to her instrumental work in raising the awareness of bioLPG through successful marketing campaigns which have helped secure customers and develop tools for AvantiGas sales teams.

“Winning means so much to me. I've been able to apply my digital expertise to introduce new innovations here at AvantiGas,” says Phillipa.

“Coming from an entirely different sector on the cutting edge of digital marketing, it’s been incredibly rewarding to be given the opportunity to implement my ideas and see the impact of these campaigns for our customers.”

The runner-up, Abigail Martin, Regional Cylinder Manager for the Southwest and Wales at Calor Gas, was recognised for her impressive rise through Calor's graduate scheme and leadership skills. In her role, she heads up the company’s Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Focused Improvement Pillar - a company-wide approach that targets specific areas to improve efficiency and reduce downtime by encouraging ongoing, employee-led improvements across the logistics division.

Mark Wilkins, Technology and Solutions Portfolio Director at Vaillant, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be sponsoring these awards for the fifth-year running.

“Young people are vital to the future of the LPG industry, and we’re delighted to recognise the achievements of these two young women who are taking steps to further their careers and the industry itself.”

George Webb, CEO of Liquid Gas UK commented: “The calibre of entrants this year is extremely encouraging, particularly as the industry’s transition to a renewable future gathers momentum.

“Nurturing the next generation of professionals will be crucial to meeting the growing demand for low-carbon energy solutions.

“A huge congratulations to Philippa and Abigail for their achievements, we look forward to seeing them continue to excel in their careers.”

The 2026 Awards will open in June 2026.
