Additional £53 million for low income families who heat their homes with oil or LPG.
We understand that recent global events and reports in the media may have caused concern among LPG users about energy security and potential price increases.
In a bid to address these concerns, UK Government has announced £53 million of additional funding for low-income families who heat their homes with oil or LPG. In England, funding will be distributed by local authorities via the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), which comes into effect from 1 April, targeted areas with higher rates of oil heating.
The Welsh Government is immediately increasing the amount of funding available for heating oil. The amount available per award for heating oil is being temporarily raised to £750, from £500 while prices are inflated. For details click here.
On top of the £4.6 million pledged by UK Government for Scotland, the Scottish Government has announced that it will make available an additional £5.4 million to support lower income households dependent on oil or LPG to heat their home. Advice Direct Scotland will be managing the fund and will be in contact with members directly to advise of next steps.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as soon as we receive them.
