What do a Whisky Distillery, a Forklift Truck and a Packaging Manufacturer all have in common...?

This may sound like the opener to a joke, but the answer is a sincere one; Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Diverse in its abilities, it's easy to see why LPG is the fuel of choice for a wide variety of businesses located off the gas grid. LPG is a well-established energy source for a range of off-gas grid companies because it acts exactly like natural gas - a controllable, convenient and easy-to-use fuel. It provides consistent and immediate heat, is reliable and environmentally-friendly, and can provide significant cost savings to all its users:

1. Whisky distillery:

A renowned Scottish whisky distillery, which produces more than two million litres of whisky a year, historically used Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) and coal to meet its substantial energy requirements. This resulted in very high fuel costs and a large carbon footprint. As the craft whisky industry relies heavily on consistent temperatures in order to effectively distil the popular tipple, LPG is the ideal solution to deliver the vital dependable heat. By switching to LPG, the distillery has seen financial savings of more than 15% on its fuel bills as well as reduced maintenance costs, and that's on top of the significant carbon savings!

2. Forklift truck:

Forklift trucks can be fuelled by diesel, electricity or LPG. With indoor air pollution high on the agenda for health & safety managers, and electricity often falling short in terms of lifting capabilities, LPG is the  popular choice.Running either from an on-site bulk tank or mounted cylinders on the truck itself, LPG delivers the capabilities of diesel without the emissions, and the environmentally-friendly aspects of electricity without the recharge downtime.

3. Packaging Manufacturer:

A leading UK packaging manufacturer wanted to reduce both its costs and carbon emissions, so decided to make the switch to LPG.Unlike many other infrastructure projects, the benefits were visible within a matter of weeks. After just two months their fuel costs were reduced by £42,000 and their carbon footprint was reduced by almost one third.Compatibility is also a major advantage when it comes to LPG; acting in the same way as natural gas, LPG is proving to be the right tool for the job in many industrial processes.

With many off-gas grid businesses exploring sustainable energy options, LPG offers a reliable, round-the-clock, low carbon fuel source even in the most remote parts of the country. LPG emits 35% less CO2 than coal, 12% less than oil and almost no black carbon. With low particle emissions, low NOx (nitrogen oxide) emissions and low sulphur content, its green credentials help rural tourist attractions, factories, warehouses and agricultural businesses to reduce their carbon footprint, as well as their running costs, thanks to LPG's efficiency as an instant and clean fuel supply.

Whether it's a wine cellar or warehouse, fine art collection or factory, when you need consistent performance 24/7, LPG delivers.
