For those in Scotland and Wales, where the restrictions haven’t been lifted, it won’t be long I’m sure and I’ll tell you what, it’s been worth the wait. In normal circumstances I would have taken the team for celebratory drinks, as we recently found out that we won the esteemed Liquid Gas Europe National Association Advocacy Award for the 2040 Vision. Voted for by a committee of industry experts, it was fantastic for the association to receive recognition on a European level and to present, virtually, to the Liquid Gas Europe Congress of over 100 European leaders about our hard work. Instead it’s a virtual ‘cheers’ for now.

The world has changed, but this virtual video culture is becoming second nature. Embracing this change and looking ahead to technological advancements in heating, we are hosting our first virtual workshop with leading heating technology manufacturer Vaillant on hybrid heat pumps. This free workshop for members will be an informative opportunity to learn about the changing landscape for heat and hear directly from the experts. 

Another area of success has been the Liquid Gas UK Codes of Practice, which you all now should know are digital. Our Codes, specifically the Gold Licences, are proving to be highly popular with members and non-members alike, including international players across the world. Our decision to go digital is another example of how we’ve embraced technology, allowing our industry’s expertise in safety to be heard across the globe. 

On the topic of global, as Brexit discussions begin to re-emerge out of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are reminded of the risks associated with a no-deal exit. We are here to support members through the future transition, which is why we are delighted to be a key feature in the World LPG Associations e-conference this October and more news regarding this exciting event will be communicated soon – so watch this space!
