Young Person in LPG 2022 sponsored by Vaillant

With the sun shining and BBQ smoking, I was honoured to be part of the launch event for Young Person in LPG 2022 sponsored by Vaillant.

Vaillant is very proud to be sponsoring this important initiative for the second year in a row and I saw such passion and drive in the potential finalists, all at such a pivotal place, right at the start of their career within an innovative industry.

The energy industry is changing and evolving into one which is cleaner and greener, making it an exciting time to be a part of it. As well as making it more apparent that there needs to be more young people coming into the industry, to both be the driving force and support in achieving our vision of a Net Zero future, it was also interesting to hear the advances that are happening now with investments into renewable liquid gases, and the passion these young people have to shape the developments going forward.

Opportunities in the LPG, bioLPG and rDME renewable liquid gas sector

In order for us to succeed at meeting our net zero targets, businesses need to look at how they can attract and support young people and their personal development in learning – both as individuals and for business growth. Whether that is as an apprentice, entry level position or graduate scheme, more opportunities are available now than there ever has been before.

Nurturing young talent and education

Nurturing an individual’s education really instils trust and value, making it a key driver for staff retention, succession and industry talent pools. A young person undergoing training may struggle to juggle their full time role alongside studying – peers and managers alike must appreciate their commitment to progression and the making of opportunities this will bring.

Having undergone my own Level 5 in Operational Management, whilst working full time in a new position in my early 30’s, I understand the pressure and the drive to succeed that many will be feeling. Having a business invest in a person really highlights the recognition that young people coming into this industry need. They are the future leaders and workforce who will deliver Net Zero in the years to come.

Opportunities in LPG

The mixture of training, qualifications and whilst at the same time gaining industry experience is an opportunity that wouldn’t have been available at one time. There are more opportunities today than ever before for young people to join and progress in the industry, and I am proud to have been asked to be part of this amazing event.

I look forward to hearing from and meeting more candidates over the coming months and presenting to the winners in November.
